Annie

Annie (now Hedy-Anne)

Mary Lou rescued Annie from a shelter in Los Angeles on a sunny day in November of 2001. Annie was picked up as a stray and was depressed, dirty, and matted. Her shaved belly from a recent spaying was the only clean spot on her little body. Mary Lou took her to stay at a wonderful foster home with my good friend Cris Baldwin who lovingly bathed and groomed Annie to perfection. Underneath all that grunge and grime was a beautiful black longhaired dachshund with a lovely white blaze on her chest. Annie spent two weeks in her foster home waiting to be adopted to a home of her own.

On December 2, 2001, Annie's wish for a home of her own came true. Two wonderful dads, Bill and John, adopted her. It was a match made in heaven. Bill and John are talented and artistic gentlemen who call Palm Springs home. I wish every rescue dog could get a home like they gave Annie.

Dear Dena,

After having the pleasure of living with two dachshunds for 15 years, my partner John and I were devastated when both Buzzer and Sigmund (both smooth red boys) passed on. It took us two years to even consider another Doxy. One day while on line we happened on your web site and found our wonderful Annie.

John wanted to continue to call her Annie and I always wanted a doxy girl named Hedwig. We compromised and named her Hedy Anne and she answers to both.

She has been a joy and a treasure. Hedy Anne recently took a two-week driving tour with us for vacation. (See pictures below.) She was a perfect sweetheart and we intend to travel with her again in the future.

She is loving, tender, and a real people dog. Now that we are so happy we may consider finding her a companion, and if we do, it will definitely be a rescue from you.

Thank you for your devotion to our wonderful little friends.
