Roxanne the Lovely
and
Darren the Destroyer

Roxanne and Darren are mother and son, though Roxanne denies this. They are black and tan longhairs, but Darren is also a dapple – inherited from his father’s side. Darren is as rotten as his mother is good, but everyone loves him anyway. Both Roxanne and Darren simply adore "goforarides" so their mama takes them everywhere. They are both very beautiful.

Peanut

The Puppymill Rescue

Peanut came to live with Mary Lou in the Fall of 1998, after spending all 8 years of her life in a Puppy Mill. She was terrified of people and ran away from everyone. She cringed and screamed if touched, and would cower submissively if spoken to. She broke our hearts.

Today, Peanut is almost a real dog. She is still afraid of strangers, but she loves her mama very much. She sometimes asks for petting and tummy-rubs, and once in a while she even gives kissies! She has come a long way in such a short time.

The Shelties

---

Miss Millie

Miss Millie was a rescue sheltie, and was very special in every way. She was a regular visitor to my home and was loved by all my dogs, even though she was the biggest dachsie they’d ever seen. She had impeccable manners in any situation, and LIVED for her weekend "goforarides" with her mama. To say that Miss Millie was Mary Lou’s favorite would be an understatement - they loved each other beyond all reason. Miss Millie went to the Rainbow Bridge in November, 1998. She was only about 6 years old, and it broke Mary Lou's heart.

Lisa

Lisa is a very tiny blue merle sheltie. Her appearance is breathtaking. She is the prettiest sheltie I’ve ever seen. It's hard to believe but she, too, was a rescue. She had been passed around from person to person before Mary Lou adopted her.

Lisa loves her mama, but hates Meagan, baths and goforarides. She is the smartest of the group and is very playful affectionate, and funny. Ricky would do anything in the world for her.

Ricky

Ricky is a very handsome tri-color sheltie. He is the only one of Mary Lou’s dogs to have been born in her home. He is loyal, affectionate and unselfish, sharing his mama with those "weasels" (dachshunds) and several rescue shelties. He is also the official "nurse" for all the other dogs, cleaning eyes and ears and comforting any who are hurt, frightened or ill.

Ricky's daddy was a Champion and he has inherited his father's good looks and charm. Ricky is a very good boy who never gives his mama any trouble about anything. He hates Darren.

Meagan

Meagan is also a rescue sheltie, who was down to her last 30 minutes of life in the Devore Animal Shelter. You'd never know it, though. She is the happiest of girls, always smiling and with a beautiful curly tail that only stops wagging when she is asleep. Many of her admirers believe that Miss Meggie was a dance hall queen in a former life, something her picture would seem to confirm. Meagan dearly loves everyone and everything except Lisa. Like Miss Millie, she behaves beautifully anywhere, except for a distressing habit of wandering off if you take your eyes off her for a second. She doesn't mean to be naughty - she just doesn't want to miss anything. My dachshunds all like her very much.
